Para-swimmer Stephen Clegg adds Commonwealth Games gold to his earlier silver to take Scotland's tally to seven.

Stephen Clegg's coach thinks he's a bit of a diva. "He likes to call me Mariah Cleggy," the Scottish swimmer said. And the 30-year-old certainly brought the drama to Tollcross on Tuesday, rampaging his way to an unexpected victory in the Commonwealth Games 50m freestyle S14. The triumph took the host nation's tally to seven golds - and a total of 14 medals - on day five of the 11-day competition and added to the silver Clegg claimed on the opening night in the 100m version of the event. Medal 15 came little over two hours later, when the 4 x 200m mixed medley quartet thrashed their way to a scarcely-believable bronze in the final race of the evening. Matthew Ward, and individual medallists Angharad Evans, Keanna MacInnes and Duncan Scott edged out Canada in a hugely-exciting conclusion. It means Scotland's most decorated Games athlete Scott becomes that bit more decorated - adding his 15th medal across four Commonwealths - while Evans and MacInnes double their tally within the space of a few days. Each will race again in finals during Wednesday's final session in the pool with the prospect of an even more successful week in sight. Clegg's gold in the first race of the night was not at all bad for a man who thought his career might be done earlier this season.
